Social media is a human response to a communication problem; if you ignore it you're screwed.

Our basic communication principles haven't changed.

The way in which we communicate with one another has evolved immensely in recent years and social media platforms have played a huge role in this. However, it's not the basic principles that have changed; we have practised the same social interaction for years such as storytelling, collaboration and problem solving. It is the tools we use to communicate that have evolved due to the fast pace of the world today.

It's all go this week in the office, with the creative team up in London at Pineapple dance studios filming and us in the SEM team out at the LikeMinds U conference again yesterday! So I have just enough time to update you on a few things I'm loving in the digital world this week...

One thing causing concern for us in the digital world over the next coming months is the new EU Cookie Law. There is a lot of confusion surrounding it and many are asking questions like what should we be doing? Will my site be illegal if we don't comply?

Let me answer some of those burning questions for you...

This week the SEM team here at Organic Development have been pretty busy attending Likeminds U, an intensive social media strategy course running over 6 full days for the next 3 months. The course has included fantastic tutorials from world class experts and hands on workshops.

I have sifted through the pages and pages of notes I made and thought I would share with you some of the great titbits we learnt and some of the highly entertaining case studies where social media marketing has worked better than ever expected.

A while back I wrote a blog post on how loud social media has become and my outrage at Spotify for letting everyone know what I was listening to through Facebook. Well now, my personal life and yours is about to get much more public. Beware - Facebook's listening. TO EVERYTHING.
